During the past week, I have heard several people at Mesa auctions say, "I am doing the best I can do". Every time someone utters those words it makes a sound equivalent to long fingernails being slowing moved along a dirty chalkboard. In fact this idle phrase goes in the same category as "I can't disagree with you" in offering a non-committal understanding of a suggestion.
